In addition, he has also facilitated staff development
trainings in the areas of domestic violence, resiliency with youth,
substance abuse, adolescent male issues, and building healthy family
relationships. He is also the recipient of the National Leadership Award and the Men of Vision award from Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault.
Mr. Sankofa has provided consultation in treatment
centers, mental health agencies, public schools, juvenile detention and
adult correctional facilities, community service boards and universities
throughout the State of Virginia.
Leon has written and directed the play and audio book
titled "My Silence, My Pain." This dramatic production continues to be
performed throughout the southeastern region in hopes of eradicating
sexual abuse by moving it from a private matter to the social forefront.
The format of his production is a framework for diminishing sexual abuse,
domestic violence and other community concerns.
As the Executive Director of Family & Youth
Foundations, Inc., he continues to strive towards providing quality
mental health services and professional development training.
