MEETING NOTES
Current Notes.

Mon April 21, 2003
  1. Monday was... a party! That part was fun. But Monday also included business--and while I shan't summarize the party (except to thank everyone who came, brought things to eat or to read aloud etc., and to say it was a good time) the business does bear mentioning.

  2. After some research, it looks like we'll be getting an 8x10 metal prefab shed from Home Depot. The shed itself is $219, comes with a board foundation for a plywood floor but no plywood. The plywood comes to $48 more, for a total of about $267 (plus tax--so a bit under 300 all told). This is well under the cap of 350 that was set. The shed is large enough to suit our needs for many years to come, and while most items stored in it should be in plastic boxes or bags to keep out dampness they will be out of the sun/rain/etc.

While we mentioned needing help erecting the shed, laying flooring etc, after more actual thought we realized that it's a tiny shed. Basically, we need one person more--maybe two. A special request has been made for Marc (who, apparently, has power tools ;)... anyone else with power tools who will be free Friday in the early afternoon/late morning might also contact myself and Sebastian/Megan.

On Saturday we'll try to move things into the shed. Basically, if you have anything belonging to Rencester, please let me know--we'll try to arrange rides out to move things into the shed, and to consolidate everything. If you think you might have something of Rencester's but don't know--CHECK! Thank you!

  3. Remember, next Monday will be a bardic--same time, same place, but unofficial.

Mon April 14, 2003
  1. If you want to go to Sapphire Joust, register soon! (Make a note that you want to camp with "Barony of Tir-y-Don," assuming you do.)

  2. This week, we went over tokens/favors; a wonderful presentation and time to create things. Great fun indeed, and many thanks to Erin and Megan Poppe for presenting!

  3. If you are interested in being a Chronicler, please contact myself and/or Phoebe. If you are interested in being a deputy Exchequer, contact Erin at eheppe@wm.edu and if you are interested in being deputy Master of Arts & Sciences, contact Megan at mpgall@wm.edu. Contacting them doesn't mean you'll necessarily do it, it just means you are interested--so go ahead and ask for info!

  4. A note to anyone who missed the bulletin earlier: we did not make the bid for kingdom Rapier Academie. However, we'll probably be having an event of some sort on that Saturday in September.

  5. As of next school year, Marc Lauterbach will be taking the position of Rencester's Herald. This is per a vote of no-confidence in our current herald, Dave Hoover, assuming that we can contact him and he doesn't earnestly indicate a wish to fully act as Herald.

  6. Also per a vote, the group decided that our long-term storage option is best suited by the purchase of a prefabricated shed. It'll be put on someone's property, and they will probably be paid a courtesy fee for the use of property--to be worked out later. (We had a standing offer from Sebastian and Megan, and a second offer now proffered by Vern; something will be decided). Again, many thanks to Vern also for mentioning the possibility of temporary storage in his shed; even though that's not the option we ended up taking, it was an offer that's greatly appreciated. (Note: the purchasing of the shed will *not* go over 350 dollars without a further vote.)

  7. Please, please return the listserv email if you haven't yet and want to remain on the listserv!

  8. Keep an eye on Rencester's website; there will probably be a bio page up soon. If you are an officer or if you just want a bio up, submit a description of your role in Rencester, what you like about it, or any other relevant trivia about yourself to Sean. If you want to include a picture of yourself in garb, go ahead; but you'll need to sign some paperwork (it's a good idea though!).

  9. Rencester's end-of-year party is Next Week. If you're coming, please bring something! If you volunteered to bring something, try to bring something roughly resembling what you volunteered for; if you didn't yet, bring ice cream toppings, or anything else that strikes your fancy. (Rumor has it that their new Excellencies may be attending--so if you don't come for the ice cream, make sure you come to schmooze!)

Mon April 7, 2003

  1. PARTY on the 21st: people who were at the meeting tonight volunteered to bring things. If you haven't yet, and plan on coming, please bring something--ice cream toppings in particular would go over nicely. We have volunteers for ice cream, chips, some drinks, utensils, etc.

  2. Next week we will probably be voting on where to store Rencester's ever-growing equipment. Possibilities involve buying a pre-fabricated shed to erect, etc. More on this once I get a chance to see a potential temporary site this week.... anyhow, if you have opinions and will not be there, please email them so they are known!

  3. If you'd like to be a chronicler or herald, please say so! We can tell you more information if you're interested, even tentatively...

  4. Next week--tokens/favors, by Erin and Megan Poppe! O What Fun!

  5. Read Erin's listserv email! Also, if you have Rencester's banners, LET MYSELF AND ERIN KNOW.
