Rencester Homecoming, March 24th

College of Rencester, Williamsburg, VA

The time has arrived. After many years it is time for all those who have ties to the College of Rencester to come home. It is our Ten Year Anniversary and we would like to celebrate with as many people as possible. So anyone who joined the SCA in the College of Rencester, any other Rencester Alums, an alum of the College of William and Mary who joined the SCA later, or any other friends of Rencester; are invited to come home and join all of us from past and present in celebration of ten years of our group.

Activities:

For this event we are planning on having one large Rencester's Champion Tourney. There will be five events and each prospective champion will have to compete in three events. The events will consist of Heavy fighting, Rapier fighting and three non marshal competitions. These activities include:

  1. A heavy fighting tournament.
  2. A rapier fighting tournament.
  3. A contest of the palate. - To enter this contest please bring a Medieval dish of your choosing. After the judging the remains will become hospitality for lunch for the populous. (Any gentle desiring to serve hot food will be require to bring something to heat it up with.)
  4. SCA Trivia - How well do you think you know the trivia of the SCA? Test your knowledge in this exciting contest of wit.
  5. A Scavenger Hunt - Given a list of items to get, how many can you find?
Rencester's Champion will be a gentle who does the best overall in his or her chosen activities. Anyone who desires an explanation of the scoring please contact the Autocrat.

There will also be a Children Champion from those children who are attending ages 12 and under. There will be three events:

  1. A contest of speed: the children compete in a series of races.
  2. A contest of art: the children will compete for the best drawing of a mermaid. This will be judged by the Baroness of Tir-y-Don.
  3. A contest of courtesy: Each attendant of the event will be given a favor which they are to give to a child they see behaving in a courteous manner. The child with the most favors an hour before court wins this contest.
The child that does the best overall wins the tourney.

There will be an open A&S display based on the theme of: "Medieval Rain Gear." Since we at Rencester at prone to much rain, we are very interested in period ways of fighting it. Dancing shall also take place after the feast led by the Rencester Dance Mistress.

Feast: A delicious feast will be provided to those on board. The Festocrat will be Sarah Prunier. For those with dietary concerns, a complete list of recipes and ingredients used therein will be provided at the site. We regret that special orders are not possible, but there will be plenty of good food for everyone.

Fees: The charge will be $8 on-board, $4 off-board. Children aged 6-12 years are $4 onboard, free off board. Children five and under are guests of the College. Reservations must be made for the feast, and the only reservation is a paid reservation! Reservations must be paid by March 16th.
