Rencester Homecoming, March 24thCollege of Rencester, Williamsburg, VA The time has arrived. After many years it is time for all those who have ties to the College of Rencester to come home. It is our Ten Year Anniversary and we would like to celebrate with as many people as possible. So anyone who joined the SCA in the College of Rencester, any other Rencester Alums, an alum of the College of William and Mary who joined the SCA later, or any other friends of Rencester; are invited to come home and join all of us from past and present in celebration of ten years of our group. For this event we are planning on having one large Rencester's Champion Tourney. There will be five events and each prospective champion will have to compete in three events. The events will consist of Heavy fighting, Rapier fighting and three non marshal competitions. These activities include:
There will also be a Children Champion from those children who are attending ages 12 and under. There will be three events:
There will be an open A&S display based on the theme of: "Medieval Rain Gear." Since we at Rencester at prone to much rain, we are very interested in period ways of fighting it. Dancing shall also take place after the feast led by the Rencester Dance Mistress. Feast: A delicious feast will be provided to those on board. The Festocrat will be Sarah Prunier. For those with dietary concerns, a complete list of recipes and ingredients used therein will be provided at the site. We regret that special orders are not possible, but there will be plenty of good food for everyone. Fees: The charge will be $8 on-board, $4 off-board. Children aged 6-12 years are $4 onboard, free off board. Children five and under are guests of the College. Reservations must be made for the feast, and the only reservation is a paid reservation! Reservations must be paid by March 16th. (Note: If reservations are not full, then there will be a limited number of spots offered at Troll) Please make checks out to The College of Rencester / SCA Inc. From the East: Take I-64 to Exit 242A. This is Route 199 West. Proceed to the 4th traffic light (about 6 miles), turn right. This is Jamestown Road; go approximately 2 miles to the end of Jamestown Road. You will see the Campus Center on your right. Turn right onto South Boundary Street, then make the next right onto Grigsby Drive. Stay on Grigsby to the stop sign and then proceed into the parking lot by the Campus Police station. From the West: Follow I-64 to exit 238. At the end of the exit ramp, bear right. This is Route 143. At the first light, turn right. This is Route 132. At the next light, turn right, this is Bypass Road. Continue past the K-Mart. Make a left at the next intersection, onto Richmond Road. Follow Richmond until it ends in an intersection. Go through the intersection and continue straight onto South Boundary Road. Make the first right onto Grigsby Drive. Stay on Grigsby to the stop sign and then proceed into the parking lot by the Campus Police station.
