An example of what used to be our (semi)quarterly newsletter, The Deluge, has been posted to give visitors a feel of things that the group does. It contains important dates, times, and contact information along with reports from the officers. The name "Deluge," along with the name of the college itself "Rencester," is derived from the fact that Williamsburg is constantly deluged with rain, more often then in most other places.

Report of the Rencester Spring Faire.
8 April, AS XXXIV (CE 2000)

As autocrat for the College of Rencester's Spring Faire, I am pleased to report that the event was a success. The weather was wonderful and the turnout beyond my expectations. We may have managed to court into our company a few mundane, who might otherwise not even know that the SCA exists. Also, I think we made some money, and so I personally vote that Rencester buy an air hockey table. Discuss it amongst yourselves.

I would like, at this time, to thank everyone who made this event a success. First the Rencesterites themselves. We all worked so hard, and we should be proud of ourselves for what we have accomplished. Vivat!

Many thanks also to the members of the Barony of Tir-y-Don, without whom this event would not have been what it was.

I wish to thank Her Excellency, Baroness Oriana, for truly honoring us with her presence and for her guidance. And thanks to her herald, my lord Fornow, for his assistance.

Thanks to Lord Patrick and the kitchen crew, for the excellent feast done under duress. No one could have guessed how far food traveled just to come to the event. It was all delicious. Vivats for everyone.

I thank all the fighters, rapier and heavy, for coming out and sharing the glorious day with us, Fun was gas by all, and they put on a ripping show. Extra vivats for Sir Timoch, without whom we could not have had fighting at all.

Vivats for Lord Jean-Claude, Lady Alessandra, and Lady Assar, who helped me to keep my sanity the past several months.

I know there are many more out there who contributed. You know who you are, we are grateful. Rencester should be proud of herself. She has pulled together a successful event, and I eagerly await what she will do next year. Good luck!

Lady Ersebet.

Seneschal's Report
Unto the populace of Rencester does Yael bat Boaz, your fearless seneschal, send greetings.

I just want to thank you guys for a great seamster and an excellent event. Thanks to everyone's hard work some really amazing things have happened. We have put ourselves back on the map of Atlantia and raised awareness of our presence on campus. Vivats to all.

I look foreword to an exciting new seamster coming up- we should really be hot stuff. In that vein I want us to put on a great show at Activities FAir that is held on August 29, 2000, the Tuesday before classes start. I would like us not only to have the normal table set up but also have a demonstration slot where we cam showcase dancing and rapier fighting. Please e-mail me (see above) and let me know what you can help me with.

Remember, guys, the SCA is an organization through out the US. Odds are there is an active group in your hometown. You can find out where the closet one is by following the links from www.sca.org/geography; check them out! There is no reason or you to be bored this summer - it is a great time to make grab and research names. Get in touch with you home barony; they should be a great resource. Personally, I will be playing with the Barony of Ponto Alto in northern Virginia - if you are going to be in that area let me know and I can help you get to events.

Have a great summer and I'll see you in the fall.

In service to out lovely college,
Yael bat Boaz.

Money Matters
Felicitations and salutations, Rencester.

I am pleased to announce that our recent Event was not only (in my opinion) quite a success, but a remunerative success as well. Thanks to the free, if slightly unwieldy, site and the wonderful economy of the prize coordinator and the feastocrat and his crew, we were able to turn a profit of approximately. $300.00. To refresh everyone's memories, that brings out total up the vicinity of $570.00 - not bad Rencester! Now, all we have to do is spend (some of) it - so start brainstorming: what do we, as a group, need?

Aside from the finances, I really do think we did a great job at the event. The weather was nice, the food was excellent, everything seemed to run more-or-less smoothly, and no mundanes were unduly traumatized. It was the first event we've hosted since I've come here, and it was a fun one. Commendations, all!

Valete,
Carolyn Tepolt.

Herald's Hail
OYEZ, OYEZ!

It is with a sad heart that I, Ersebert, send you my last greeting as your friendly neighborhood herald. As you must know by now, if you are close to being in the loop, I will be leaving the college and fair Atlantia after I graduate in May. Where am I going? To the Kingdom of the East! What will become of me? Who can say? But let it be known that I shall miss all of you, and the times we have had together.

I want to thank all the patient people in the Rencester Signers. I am going to miss making (and breaking) music with you people. It was lots of fun. We have learned that there are indeed songs other than "The Scotsman," and they aren't half bad. Sorcha has the books, so all is not lost. "Weep, O Mine Eyes, and See Snot!"

At this time I pass the baton to Dave, my worthy deputy. I am sure that he will do his best to be helpful and courteous. If not, I want to hear about it.

And so, farewell. I am proud of my time at Rencester and all that she has accomplished. I wish you all nothing but the best of luck in the future.

In service,
Lady Ersebet Feyerway.

Chronicler's Corner
Greeting, Rencester.

Sadly this is my last Deluge for this wonderful group. I will be heading up to New England soon with Ersebet, to try to make sense of my life after graduation. I have been privileged to get to know and work with you all in the past few years, and I will miss you. I think we have a great thing going here, and that we will have even more success in the future. Drop me a line at keetons@compuserve.com and let me know how things are going. Good luck with all your studies, and I hope to see you again.

In Service,
Wolfram von Aalst.
